I spent 5 years or so working for the DFA milk coop and I can tell you that a lot of dairy farmers house their cows year round. I worked for 3 of those years in Michigan and found a lot of guys up there actually do the same with beef cows. A few years ago I spent a season working for a helicopter crop dusting outfit and saw several beef confinement operations from southern Illinois to northern Iowa. It's not what I think of when I think of beef cattle farming but it's not really very uncommon although you see it a lot more on the dairy side.

Here is a game that I find not appealing at all and it is almost out to public. The American map looks like the map of somewhere I have never seen. It's not a North American map that is for sure and for certain. You can't go ocean palm trees mountains pines palm trees and ocean, It's impossible. The map looks like a island, where is this island? There is one equipment I'm interested in is the 635 CaseIH.
I wanted horses in map, what did I get 10 horses max small feeder lots now made to the size that they want. I got news for them Cows take 1 1/2 ac and horse take 2 1/4 ac to graze without over feeding on the land. The main reason horses eat grass closer to ground and they don't eat some grass because of texture and or taste. Don't quote me on the amount of ac of horses and cows. Sheep also eats grass close to ground. That's why it caused range wars the sheep would eat the grass so close that the cow couldn't live on the ground. Cows wrap there tongue around the grass and tear it off.
If all I can do is ride around the map on a horse I would much rather take a tractor it's a lot faster, and I have never rode a horse with a English saddle.
As for the cows it looks like the same old milk cows from all the other games. How hard is it to color the cows all one color and have them to graze and feed and raise calves and call them something else, like Angus, Simmental or any other beef breeds out there?
All these milk barns in the game out there that house the cows, what? We don't house cows in America. They don't stand in a barn 7 days a week 24 hrs a day like they do in Europe.  The game is way over priced, I think it should be free so you won't fill you wasted you money, just your time. I'll probably have to buy it since I'm one of the moderators of this web site. I hope I'm wrong and the game is better than I can see and it's the best one of all. We shall see.

i think you are confused about which country has cows in barns 24/7/365. America is the one that does that. on a large scale too 35k cows over at fair oaks dairy in Indiana

I have seen videos of euro farms that does that. I just wanted to bring the subject up so we have a conversation on the matter. Feed lots is more or less the same but they don't have a roof. My father and I have grazing black white face cattle. They are grass feed only, that is what we prefer to rise are calves. We leave out the GMO feed from are cattle. We are small farm and use old equipment.
We patch it up as we go along. I don't know for sure what has cause digestive track problems I have. I think it's all the grain modifications since I have been born and lets not forget all the chemicals they put in are food. All this things is cause by are government and big money kick backs they get for allowing it to happen. It's just food for thought.

I have been there and drive by there a lot. We actually have one of there old tractors that was hooked to a tub grinder 24/7. To have that operation in fs would fill the standard size map up.

I was one of the milk haulers up there when Fair Oaks started up. It's kinda amazing what it's become. They have setups just like it in several other places too albeit on a smaller scale.

I notice that we now have LodeKing trailers and Kinze brand equipment in the game as well. I'm looking forward to some of the stuff like the Man log truck as I think it will probably be a good base to make an American log truck out of.

I'm so glad to finally see a big John Deere combine.  It's hard to tell from the couple pics so far but it looks like the 790 doesn't have European signage.  I may be wrong, but it looks kinda hopeful.

I didn't look like it but if you look at the duals there are the hook on style not the hub. Which isn't a big deal. I also wonder how much of this is going be accessible within the game to change somethings like wheels

It looks to me like Giants are trying hard to cater to every possible segment of agriculture that they can.

They also just added an Unverferth Seed Runner to the equipment list.  That's a good sign.  I'm starting to the like the equipment, but the american map definitely has not interested me.

I agree, and I am also hoping somebody will use it as a good base for a nice American style map. But I guess we will have to make do until some nice maps come out.
