vehicle top speed
« on: April 30, 2017, 06:28:51 PM »
How can I increase the top speed of a truck without it changing how fast it accelerates? I know you can change I think the maxrpm but doesn't that also increase how quickly it accelerates? I like how quick it accelerates just want it to go faster than 42mph

maxForwardSpeed= in the first line of the motor section. It's in km/hr

so I'm reply to this because I am trying to change the top speed of a semi and changing this value did nothing. Here are some clips of the xml:

Quote
<motorConfigurations>
        <motorConfiguration name="$l10n_configuration_valueDefault" price="0">
            <motor torqueScale="2.5" minRpm="300" maxRpm="1800" maxForwardSpeed="65" maxBackwardSpeed="15" brakeForce="2" lowBrakeForceScale="0.22" lowBrakeForceSpeedLimit="1" rotInertia="0.0015" minForwardGearRatio="10" maxForwardGearRatio="350" minBackwardGearRatio="40" maxBackwardGearRatio="150">
                <torque normRpm="0.45" torque="0.5"/>
                <torque normRpm="0.5" torque="0.6"/>
                <torque normRpm="0.59" torque="0.7"/>
                <torque normRpm="0.72" torque="1"/>
                <torque normRpm="0.86" torque="0.88"/>
                <torque normRpm="1" torque="0.7"/>
            </motor>
        </motorConfiguration>
    </motorConfigurations>

I've tried changing the min gear ratio as well, still no luck.

you have to change  maxForwardSpeed="65 to what you want it to go. 65 means top speed right now but you should be able to add lets say 87 and it should go faster and then adjust what top speed you want.

Thats my fault on finishing the question. Everything you see there is as it is set in the vehicle.xml but I cant get it to go above 42mph.

Depending on what truck it is there could be another line to change.  Some have double and triple xml for different engines so you have to change each one the same thing. If i saw the whole script i could tell ya exactly how to change it. Also if that dont work i fiddle around with maxForwardGearRatio="350" and  all torques.   <torque normRpm="0.45" torque="0.5"/>
                <torque normRpm="0.5" torque="0.6"/>
                <torque normRpm="0.59" torque="0.7"/>
                <torque normRpm="0.72" torque="1"/>
                <torque normRpm="0.86" torque="0.88"/>  <torque normRpm="0.45" torque="0.5"/>______________________________________________mine as what i do to change speeds if it dont work with maxforwardspeed

                <torque normRpm="1.5" torque="1.6"/>
                <torque normRpm="1.59" torque="1.7"/>
                <torque normRpm="1.72" torque="2"/>
                <torque normRpm="1.86" torque="1.88"/>
                <torque normRpm="2" torque="1.7"/>
                <torque normRpm="1" torque="0.7"/>

Find a similar truck you like and copy-paste the engine specs from it.

as stated above - the value for maxspeed is kph.  it is set to 65, then you should get around 41mph.

what mph are trying to reach?  take that value and multiply by 1.62 to get the kph equivalent.

yea I seen that it was in kpm, that didnt matter I could move the maxforwardspeed to 300 and it never went over 42mph. I fixed this with copy and pasting in a different set of engine specs.

I have noticed that in several mods there are speed limits embedded in motor options and also wheel options.  So even if the max speed for the default motor, or specific motor option is set higher, the code in the xml still locks on the lowest maxspeed it finds.
