new hard drive can i use steam fs17

first Iam guessing that this might  or might not belong here after looking around at different titles,

 so, I had to get a new hard drive  so that means I lost my disc version of fs17  but I still have all my content that I downloaded over the years. but any way, I still have the disc and thought I can just reload onto the new hard drive it did but did not work, so loaded a map and couple of tractors but did not show up. I think it uses a product key for the disc.  the question can I use steam version of fs17 on steam? and can use all my content I have saved over the years.
