Modding original models from FS15
« on: February 19, 2015, 07:08:14 AM »
I would like to start learning how to mod, I want to mod some of the original tractors and implements in FS15, I have giants editor, I cannot find where the files are located for the game that I need, or is this not possible to even do? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

File path address for core mods.
C:\Program Files\Farming Simulator 2015\data\vehicles

That's true, but make sure you back those up before editing...better to start with downloading something from modhub, find it in your mod folder and do whatever you want with it then- if it messes up the game just delete it and start again...

Here is another option go to C:\Program Files\Farming Simulator 2015\sdk\sampleMod( this is a zip file) Unpack this file. Practice editing it. It is a mod with no errors or issues. It it is the ingame bueher tractor with an xml file. This will give you an idea  of how to make any of your default vehicles into a mod. This way if you edit and mess up just start over and learn from your mistakes. If you edit any of the game vehicles it will break the MP capacity of the game. Also it may affect Giants update patches from working properly. Do not know for sure about the update part. It would also be a good idea to download notepad++ if you do not already have it. It almost essential in modding your vehicle xml and modDesc xml.

You export to new folder.
move over xml, shaders and shared folders
alter i3d file path in xml
create new generic modsec.

you now have a unedited core mod in your mods folder to edit however you want.
